Local pizza shop owner puts a new spin on his restaurant.
Well, everyone, it’s finally easier to eat, drink and be merry. Hop on over to Scooter’s, located at 313 Main Street in Olean NY, right next to the Hampton Inn. You know the place! Scooter’s is now located in the former Main Street Pizza and Grill building and has been since they opened in late March of 2012. They celebrated their Grand Opening on March 31, 2012, and while some things have stayed the same, they have made a lot of changes!
You wanna talk menu? Okay, here’s the deal. They carried over the core menu from Main Street, but Scott Rucinski and his crew have KICKED IT UP A NOTCH! They still offer pizza, wings, subs, salads, burgers and, of course, their original baked wraps. They gave the pizza a pleasant make-over. They improved the sauce and as for the dough, while still thin, it is now just a touch thicker, which makes for a nice, soft and chewy crust. They also now top the crust with not one, not two, but Three Different Cheess. Oh YEAH!
Their Burgers are to die for! They put the frozen beef patties into their well-deserved graves and now serve scrumptious, fresh and never frozen loose-meat burgers presented to you on a toasty, buttered and salted bun. Their homemade, fresh-cut potato slices are a must-try, and the slow-smoked pulled-pork has quickly become a favorite. Be sure to add one of their soups to complete any order. They also offer carry-out, delivery and off-site catering services.
In keeping with Scott’s intentions of offering a family-friendly atmosphere during the appropriate hours, they also offer a full Kids’ menu. Scott said he envisions offering an environment for family during the day and then transitioning over to a different atmosphere in the evening so adults can come in, talk with friends, drink a beer or some wine with their food and have a good time.
According to Scott, “Our atmosphere here is lively enough for people to have a good time, but not so much so that people can’t carry on a conversation.”
Scooter’s offers a nice, laid-back vibe that provides comfort and suitability for all ages. Whether you want to spend some quality family-time, chill during the late-night hours with friends, or anything in between, Scooters can accommodate any of your needs or desires. Don’t worry none about entertainment either, ‘cause they also have live music on most weekends and will also be offering some karaoke in the future.
Scott believes that what sets them apart from other similar local businesses is “the newly revamped atmosphere of the place. Before it had more of a pizzeria style to it.”
Things have definitely changed from that. They completely remodeled the dining room and now sport a 20-foot bar, serving both beer and wine with specials starting at 5pm. Be sure and check out their nine TVs, including a MASSIVE 73-inch HDTV! Stop over on Sundays and check out the Cleveland Browns, now featured on the 73-inch HDTV via NFL Sunday Ticket. They also show the Buffalo Bills games on two TVs including a 40-inch HDTV. They feature five different games every Sunday on nine TVs.
An Eclectic mix of interestingness, including photos, posters and articles related mostly to the music and sports worlds, covers the walls and greets people as they enter the building. The environment makes Scooter’s right for any crowd, including the hunters who will be tracking down eating establishments when they return from their daily treks out in the woods.
“If there’s a group of hunters who want to stop in at the end of the day, we can hook them up with our “Spare Room.”
The “Spare Room” can accommodate up to 25 people, making it a great choice for parties and large gatherings of any kind! Along with the privacy offered with the “Spare Room,” Scooter’s also offers billiards such as pool and foosball and they offer darts as well. Those activities would aid any hunter in his or her attempt to wind down for the day.
Scooter’s staff members also add their value to the atmosphere. Brad Kratts and Scott’s sister Kathlene Rucinski have stood by Scott ever since he partnered himself into Main Street when it opened in September of 2006. Michael Gianas joined the crew at Main Street in February of 2007 and Heather Ciancio added her talents to the bunch in the Spring of 2010. Both of them stuck by Scott through his transition, and they continue working for him.
Scott’s wife, Sarah, has been an enormous source of morale support for him. His dad, Jim Rucinski has helped and supported him a lot as well. Both Sarah and Jim frequently work inside the restaurant as well as performing other supportive tasks outside the restaurant’s realm.
